Everybody Ready was established in 2001 as a result of local initiatives that identified early childhood development as a regional priority and works throughout Detroit and Wayne County to improve early childhood outcomes for young children. Families in Brightmoor continue to face considerable obstacles to providing stable home and learning environments for their children—unemployment rates, limited access to reliable transportation, neighborhood blight and other factors adversely affect healthy childhood development. Everybody Ready has established a relationship with long-time Foundation grant partner Development Centers, Inc. (DCI) and the Brightmoor community to better directly implement work in that neighborhood.
Brightmoor Childcare Quality Initiative (BQI): Through the Brightmoor Childcare Quality Initiative, Everybody Ready distributes up to 70 scholarships each year to children enrolled in 3-star quality rated childcare center, or higher. Funding for this scholarship program positively impacts children whose parents are working fulltime or enrolled in educational programs.
