Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit

Since 1929, the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) has served as the link between the Jewish people and Israel, working to ensure the future of a connected, committed, global Jewish people with a strong Israel at its center. JAFI helped create and build the State and brought over three million Jews to Israel. JAFI and its partners operate four Youth Aliyah Villages in Israel for at-risk children, among them, Kiryat Yearim.

PROJECT AWARDED

PJ Library: PJ Library, the flagship program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and a key aspect of the JCC’s family outreach efforts, provides an accessible entry point to Judaism for families raising Jewish children. Through PJ Library, children ages 6 months to 8 years receive a monthly gift of high-quality children’s books and music that speak directly to Jewish values, traditions and culture. Additionally, “PJ Our Way” provides books for 9 to 11-year olds, allowing children to grow within the program. “PJ Our Way” allows children to select their own books, participate in online activities, and leave their own reviews of the stories.
