Camarrah Morgan, Program Partner at the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation, was honored in February at Commonwealth Church’s Climbing Higher Mountains Prayer Brunch in Redford. Camarrah was nominated by Beverly Jones at Greater Ebenezer Child Care Center, a Fisher Foundation grant partner and member of the Brightmoor Childcare Quality Initiative (BQI).
Her tireless dedication and service to her community earned her a nomination for the Torchbearer of Equity award. Camarrah has 20 years of involvement in local, statewide, national, and international efforts to improve access to high quality early childhood development has cultivated a deep passion for strengthening initiatives in ways that ensure children, parents, caregivers, and childcare providers are seen and heard.
She began partnering with the Fisher Foundation in 2010 through various capacities, consulting and otherwise, in support of BQI. Most recently, while operating her own consulting business, she facilitated co-design of BQI programs with the 17 BQI early childhood businesses and local non-profit organizations serving the childcare programs. She also simultaneously co-led the development of a community derived parent and caregiver advocacy network called Detroit Champions for HOPE through Detroit’s Hope Starts Here comprehensive early childhood framework.
“Camarrah is a tremendous asset to our team. Her work in the community brings the Foundation closer to the communities we serve and helps us make smarter, more effective grants,” said Cynthia K. Rowell, Director of Learning & Impact at the Fisher Foundation.
On February 25, hundreds of community members along with the Fisher Foundation team gathered to celebrate Commonwealth Church and Camarrah’s commitment to ensuring the playing field is level for all residents in Detroit and Michigan. We are proud she is a part of our team!
